Chapter 17: The Demon vs La Parka - February 29, 2000

The Demon's next appearance and fight was on February 29 on WCW Thunder against La Parka, a wrestler with a gimmick of being dressed as a skeleton, who likes to use a chair against his opponents. I was familiar with La Parka because he was often in those filler fights.

He also leaks blood as well during his walk to the ring. I've said it many times, but I can't say enough what an entertaining and plain awesome character The Demon was.

More evidence of The Demon having fans and drawing Kiss fans is visible during his entrance. The guy displays a Solo Albums shirt and a family holding a Kiss banner.

It's interesting to see two such visually vivid characters in the ring. Commentator Mike Tenay called it "One of the most unusual matchups".

I guess either Parka's bigger experience or the agenda against The Demon played role in The Demon getting the short end of the stick again, or perhaps and very likely both.

The Demon couldn't wait and started a fight instantly, which gave him an advantage as La Parka was getting a beating for a while, but as usual, that quickly changed, although The Demon actually was dominating the fight for a while.

Once La Parka regained footing it was over sooner than even I would have suspected. Good fight though. I guess in a way The Demon was like La Parka, in a sense that he was a lower class wrestler  with a strong gimmick, fighting early/filler fights never being given a chance to climb higher

Dale Torborg: "The creative people, for lack of better phrasing, creative people weren't really creative. 'hey, you're wearing makeup, and you're wearing makeup, uh, fight. Ok, we did that, now what do we do. ' and it's a shame" (3 Sides of the Coin Podcast)
