From what I've read, starting with this show, Vince Russo, the former WWF writer is back, so oh boy. Well, it was good while it lasted. Russo's back at the pen, and The Demon steps out of a spotlight. The Vampiro/Demon feud is over, and I think the ideas behind it were really interesting. The Demon had been written as this sort of reluctant antihero, something like maybe Ghost Rider, who changes into and gets taken over by dark identity, but still on the good side. Vampiro had been made into this psychopath fighting people at cemeteries, setting people on fire, talking about hearing voices in his head.
The feud between them, kidnapping of The Demon's fiance, dwelling into his human side, Vampiro's plan to trick Dale Torborg into letting his Demon persona take over - that, for me at least, was some cool stuff without going over the top.
The following day after Bash At The Beach 2000, we get to see Vampiro backing up to the arena in his hearse.
A little later, he comes to the stage with microphone, and a black coffin he brought with him is next to the ring. The Demon comes out of the coffin on Vampiro's bidding, and it's explained by the commentators that he's under some sort of mind control.
Vampiro: What you saw as your end, is just the beginning, you got that? Cause your soul is mine
Scott Hudson (commentator): What kind of control Vampiro has over The Demon?
Mark Madden (commentator) The Demon is not responsible for his own actions I think, he's under mind control of some kind
Vampiro is now his master, and since now on, The Demon will be reduced to just being Vampiro's goon/pawn, and soon another goon will join them, so The Demon's role is now completely minimized and he had his own spot taken away in WCW. From then on he was just one of Vampiro's faithful minions
Asya comes to the ring trying to talk sense into The Demon, and while he hesitates for a while, he listens to Vampiro's order and starts choking Asya. The light starts flashing and Sting in a ski mask appears and cleans the ring with a baseball bat. The Demon and Vampiro escape
The Demon and Asya got a new photoshoot around that time
