On August 2, 2000 episode of WCW Thunder, The Demon was to be a part of an 8 men elimination match, which would be of course the fight of the evening. It's a big deal for few reasons, One, it's the main match of the episode. Two, it includes A listers such as Sting and others that were main stars at the time. Three, one of the people also participating in the match is...Brian Adams! Yes, the original person behind The Demon character. Again, it's surreal to have them both in the same match, and pretending as there is no connection. I'm sure the writers were unaware or assumed the audiences forgot that Brian Adams was the original Demon (again, see Chapters 4-7).
Anyway, right before the match, we see Vampiro talking to The Demon. The Demon will fight Sting (!), which of course, is a big chance for The Demon, on WCW's new payperview called New Blood Rising. Vampiro tells The Demon that he has to show what he's all about in that fight and that he will be on his own, without Vampiro watching his back. So basically, for some reason, Vampiro says The Demon won't get any help and talks to him with contempt and even pushes him one time. This segment is another reminder that The Demon is now a pushed around servant of Vampiro
We then get to the match. Booker T comes out first, who was at the time WCW World Heavyweight Champion. It was Russo's idea at the time to push C and B wrestlers into A class and have them be the main stars. During Booker's entrance, a footage is shown of what happened on Monday Nitro during the previous night after it went off the air. So Sting lost a fight with Booker T (...) but Jeff Jarret,Vampiro, Muta and The Demon came out to attack them both. That we've seen. But what we haven't seen is that Kronic, the tag team band consisting of Bryan Clark (Sean Connery lookalike) and Brian Adams came out to help Sting and Booker. During this footage we see the first contact/fight between Brian Adams and the current Demon
Sting comes out next and after him, Kronik, or Kronic: Brian Adams and Bryan Clarke, WCW World Tag Team Champions
Vampiro, Great Muta and The Demon come out after them, and just for this match Jeff Jarret joins them (he was an A list bad guy) since he had a feud with Booker T.
They run into the ring and the mayhem starts, 4 people on 4 people at the same time. Right away, an unmentioned but bizarre moment takes place when Brian Adams and The Demon clash.
The Demon gets such a pounding he falls off the ring and Adams follows him and whoops him there, and few moments later they face each other again in the ring
Adams takes care of him pretty fast and goes back inside the ring to take care of Muta who is beating Booker. Muta is officially eliminated after Adams slams him into the ground. One down.
The Demon comes back into the ring, dropkicks Adams who falls out the ring, The Demon follows him and gives him few punches while he's dizzy, but that doesn't last long as Adams regains focus, it's The Demon who's doubling over. It’s pretty evened out.
Clark joins Adams and they're about to slam The Demon on the commentators' desk, then they try to do it to Jarrett but eventually they do it to the referee who tries to stop them. For this they get disqualified. Three down
Vampiro, Jarrett and The Demon attack Sting but the referee orders only two in the ring at the time, making it a tag team match. Jarrett stays against Sting, then tags The Demon who gives him few more hits, and then tags Vampiro. At the end Jarrett actually runs away, and Booker and Sting both knockout Vampiro and The Demon winning the match
It was actually a good fight, and The Demon was shown as doing well. It was surprising to see Muta going out first, knowing he was so favored by the writers as Vampiro's partner. It was good to see him leave as first as I never found him interesting to be honest. And it's good to finally see Demon given some proper respect - even thought he lost, he and Vampiro were the last ones from their team. And of course, it was so bizarre to see The Demon fighting Brian Adams, and interesting to see Brian Adams having a feud with Vampiro after all.
