Chapter 33: The Demon Returns - July 3, 2000

It's interesting how much depends on a writer and how a character can be nothing or something really interesting. Again, depending on the writing. When Dale Torborg's Demon was introduced to the Nitro, he was in his underwear looking for the clothes that a (relatively) small cackling chicken-dancing comedian stole and walked around with cops looking for them. In Bischoff's writing, he is now made as a guy with fiance, a split personality disorder, who gets taken over by some dark persona from within that he can't control. And actually some reasonable buildup was created to see Dale as Demon again, since we had only seen Dale for the last few episodes without his gear and trying to fight the inner demon, pun intended, and now, on this episode , we will finally see him again.

So on July 3, 2000 episode of WCW Monday Nitro, we get to see Dale and Asya rehearsing before the show. That means, they are walking around in front of the show's entrance, which at that time was reduced to art-less, bland scaffolding holding a viewscreen, and suddenly one of the flashbombs explode when Asya's close to it hurting her. The inference here is that Vampiro had something to do with it to get rid of Asya, who he saw as an obstacle holding Dale from becoming The Demon.

Some time later, we see Dale packed and saying that he's going back to the hospital, but gets stopped by the hooded character in a Sting mask. The hooded person gives him The Demon costume, and the nodding Dale accepts it.

As he walks away, we see it was actually Vampiro in disguise, smirking, but unbeknownst to him, another, "real" hooded character appeared behind him watching the whole thing.

Later that night, we see that The Demon is back! Dale Torborg gave in to his inner self, and became The Demon again. We get to see him being in some sort of transforming trance, which is just really cool to say in a plain language. He's about to face Vampiro

Vampiro comes to the ring first.

After him, we finally get to see the sarcophagus return, open up and reveal The Demon

Tony Shiavone: He's wanting Dale Torborg to return to The Demon and he got his wish because here comes The Demon (...) The man, the character, the inner demon that Dale Torborg tried to  once and for all put on the shelf

Scott Hudson: Every time Dale Torborg  gets rid of The Demon, The Demon returns but you know why? Vampiro keeps giving him a reason to return

Shiavone: You knew this would happen. After what Dale Torborg, now The Demon, has had to go through the last few weeks (...) you knew The Demon would jump start this match up

Hudson: Vampiro was getting exactly what he wanted, he played Dale Torborg like a violin. He brought The Demon back up from the inner soul of Dale Torborg. Dale Torborg wants to ditch The Demon, Dale Torborg doesn't want to be weird. Vampiro embraces being a freak

He instantly rushes to the stage but Vampiro gets a hold of him and beats him up for quite a while, until The Demon finally regains control but loses it soon after. While they're fighting, a whole group of hooded masked men come out and surround the ring. The Demon uses the distraction, grabs Vampiro in his finishing move, which is rechristened back to Love Gun, and wins the match.

He is allowed to leave by the masked men who then come to the ring and surround Vampiro.

The lights go out, and when they come back on, Vampiro had vanished.

Later we see him backstage challenging The Demon to a fight on the nearest payperview, Bash At The Beach, which will be fought on a graveyard! Nice
